How to Choose the
Right Size
Be careful not to simply
order the size the child usually wears!
Take
their measurements and compare them to the size chart to
accurately choose a size. If you are not sure or
between sizes, it is usually best to order the larger size
and alter down. In most cases, alterations should be
expected for a perfect fit. Remember, in most cases children will be growing and you may need to compensate
for their size change before the date they will be wearing
their dress.

Other Notes:
Length Measurements
are important!
Be especially careful to
measure the length of the child to make sure the dress will
be long enough (you can always have the length taken up, but
you don't want the dress to be too short).
*Length is a "Hollow to Hem"
measurement--while the child is standing very straight,
measure from the hollow at the base at the front of the neck
to where you want the hem of the dress to fall. This is
the "length" measurement. For some styles this may
be a mid-calf or tea length measurement, for others you may
want the dress to fall closer to the ankles. If you
plan to have them wear a full crinoline under their skirt,
please add an inch or two to accommodate the fuller skirt. In some cases it may
be necessary to go up a size to accommodate a taller girl so
the dress will not be too short, then plan to alter the
bodice down to fit.
Note that these size
charts are "body" measurement size charts, so they
reflect the size of the child that goes into the dress and
the dress itself may be cut with a little ease above these
measurements, depending on the style.
Don't hesitate to
contact us with any sizing questions! Once your
dress is ordered, in most cases it is not returnable or
exchangeable for a different size, so please ask all
questions in advance.
